Exams for UX Certification

Professionals who spend more than 30 hours in our intensive training demonstrate a high-level commitment to their UX education. An exam helps us verify participants’ content retention and apply concepts practically. To be UX Certified, each person must pass an exam for each course. Exams are available only to people whorecently participated in the courses.

Exam Format

Each course's exam is based on the topics, theories, and examples the instructor covered during the course, and:

  • tests 2 types of understanding: 1)knowledgeof theories and topics, and 2)实际应用of that knowledge to real-world situations and examples;
  • isonlineand can be taken anywhere you have a computer and internet connection (though some strict firewalls may disrupt the exam delivery);
  • has30 multiple choice questions;
  • is timed, with1 hourallowed for each attempt (most people complete the exam in about 30 minutes);
  • allows a maximum of3 attempts to pass;
  • requires ascore of 80%还是你好gher in order to pass.

Preparing for Exams

All material that appears on exams is covered during class and usually in the course slides. The most successful exam takers begin by participating in the course and taking good notes. Just before attempting the exam, we suggest that you review:

  • the PDF course slides provided at the training event,
  • your own notes from the course, and
  • any additional materials the instructor may have provided.

It is not necessary to read any external books to pass exams.

Taking Exams

You must attend the entire course to be eligible to take that course's exam. After each course, NN/g sends all course attendees an email invitation to take the course exam. The email contains instructions for accessing the course exam (and paying the exam administrative fee, if it has not already been paid).

We recommend taking the exam as soon as possible, while the information from training is fresh in the attendee's mind. Many people take them in the evening on the same day as the training.The exam must be passed within 35 calendar daysof the last day of the UX Conference in order to apply the course credit toward UX Certification. After this period there will be no other opportunity to apply the course credit toward UX Certification.

We recommend using a computer that is not subject to a strict firewall, as some firewalls can cause issues with the exam. We also strongly recommend taking the exam for a large screen device rather than a small mobile phone, as some questions refer to large screenshots of designs which may be difficult to see on a small screen.

Participants can refer to the materials given during the course, as well as any notes they took while in class; they may not consult other sources or confer with other people.

Participants may pause the exam to review their notes or take a break.

Exam Accommodations

We provide reasonable adjustments to the exam process to individuals who demonstrate a need for exam accommodations. These adjustments are individualized, so we consider them on a case-by-case basis. To learn more, please contactcertification@nngroup.com.
